FINE DATA Reply with quote
I Praise you Mr. Salman for your fine collection of mind boggling data that can create a brouhaha in the wider circles of NGO and fine writers of prestigious newspapers. It can also be nice recipe for the donor countries to press the general further and he would press the top brass of the department and in turn this pressure would go downward upto a constable. What do the masses want? The answer is they dont want this date, rather they want the end of whipping, cruelty, barbarism and nonsense oppression. Our police system needs complete overall to come up to the level of English booby. It needs some other Temuri who has done a fine job of reforming the Traffic Police of Islamabad to make it public loving and all powerful.

Pak Police Reply with quote
Well Pakistan Police got nothing much to do really. Can you think of doing a job of more then 12 hours a day with 6,000 rupee and no allowances like the Armed forces have. Why can't we offer similar benefits to Police? How a police man live a social life? How many police staff we have?

We write without thinking. I am not fan of Police but at least we shall discuss how can they be good to us. Lets discuss.

Corruption and Salary Reply with quote
Hi,
Money is never an issue for being either honest or corrupt. If this was true, the poor people would rank among the most corrupt. In general we will find our dear politicians with stakes of money as corrupt. Therefore, just raising the salary of Police is not the answer but a foolproof system where accountability is the key-The answer.
Asa society we are corrupt, we moan about police being,so but how many of us try to bribe them rather than going to court and pay the fine. The reason being it saves us money and time.In the west there is no such things,so we have to pay the fines. And worse ,you can get charged for trying to bribe any official including police.
I hope one day we will get an honest leader who will be fair with everyone .We will no more fear to be stopped by police and hassled for money.
We dont report the abuse of power by Police. An independent website for corruption reporting of any sort.
I want to start a forum where people can submit their complaint with proof.
If we want to stop the abuse,we should need to take power off them.
May God help Us

Police Corruption Response Reply with quote
WSalaam Everyone,

I think corruption in our society lies at every level... We alwayz take about the Pakistani Government, the Pakistani Police, the Pakistani society etc.... that are very deep in the midst of a corrupt society.... But how much do we look at ourself and actually think about our own actions or the people that are around us in our society. It's very easy to point fingers at other ppl, but when it comes to ourself it's not as easy. Think about the time you have walked into a store and have tried to bargain the price of an item (ofcourse depending where you do this - if you are from Toronto, like the Pacific Mall) but that in a way is corruption in itself. An item is set at a fixed price for a certain reason, but when you try and bargain... it's encouraging the corruption system. I have also heard, oh if I pay you cash then don't charge me tax... Now that is corruption in itself.
I am not saying that Pakistani police or the Government should not be responsible for their corrupt behaviour... But it's people like ourself that encourage them, hence they don't have much of an excuse....
Who knows when will this chain end... but we gotta stop ourself if we want to make a change in society.

Shocked pakistani police are very corrupt.bargaining at any shop is not corrupt because the shopkeeper will look at u and think yes hes from abroad and ask for more than its worth.there is nothing wrong in bargaining it even happens in uk london camden town....but police corruption is really bad it even happens in all pakistani airports, even if u got everything right (your papars)u will still recieve hassle..i had to give 500 rupees for no reason at lahore airport just to go in to the airport.if u pay rishwat to the police at the airport doors u go straight through without any hassle....i drove to minare pakistan on 14 august and i had all the papers car licence, carpapers. everything u can think of even stupid pakistani insurance but i still got stopped at the chowki and police told me that police saheb wants to talk to u.i went up to him he says where are u going i said minare pakistan he looked at his fellow police and then looked at me.his fellow police took me aside and said aik hurri patti de do meaning give him some money,i said ive got all my papers he then replied pay or saheb will do chalaan and jurmana,i was really angry by now.i gave him the hurri patti with qaide-azam picture on it ,he gave me big smile and i went on my way,got to badshahi masjid parked the car and had a cold lemon drink(shukunji) to cool myself....my advice is keep a mushtashe and a beard that way they wont ask for rishwat lol

Very Happy

Police and corruption Reply with quote
I think one of the reasons for police being corrupt is they are used for political means. a police man can not tell you who he is answerable to, because, there is no fine line. he sereves beurocracy, politicians, landlords, and mill owners because they all can cause him a whole lot of trouble.
