What really happened Reply with quote
I feel as if the fact that a person was kept in 'solitary confinement' called the 'maut ki kal kothree' alone as news was too much for the humanitarian Insaar Burni, and he took it at face value without considering the facts whether he was there actually serving life term or any thing else. On top of that the sad volatile mental condition of the spy after this many years, oozed suffering and also the minister being all too gullible believed the 'neglected' soul that he has been left here to die without any justification for that many years..... The minister's philanthropic instinct kicked in and out went the summary...rest is in the Pak media.

Incidently, there can be many such cases cooked up on both sides of the border that are driven by emotions keeping a blind eye on the judicial process preceeding the imprisonment injunctions.

Sadly though, energy is being spent on such spur of the moment emotional reality checks and not on the bigger picture. It would be much more realistic and just to sift through the jails registers to find out the real injustices and sorting those cases on both sides...This may really bring the two rivaling nations closer on stronger grounds than just say, cultural interactions of our film or drama industries....

peace....

if he was a spy he shouldnt have been released, until he completed his sentence, it is like perverting our own law, breaching our own law driven by emotional sympathies. for instance if he was to release then Pakistan should have exchanges Pakistani prisoners with kashmir singh, it just doesnt seem senseable to release an indian spy and dont get your spies being rotten in indian jails released in return.

Wondring, that Government of Pakistan release him after 35 year if was spying for India?

35 years its too long they kept him.

But what Pakistan got in reply from India is a following news:

Pakistan protests over death of its national in Indian jail

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan - A government spokesman says Pakistan wants an explanation from India for what it called the mysterious death of an alleged Pakistani spy in Indian custody.

Indian authorities handed over the body of 37-year-old Khalid Mehmood on Monday, days after Pakistan freed and returned an Indian man it had held for 35 years for espionage.

Pakistani Foreign Ministry spokesman Mohammed Sadiq said Wednesday his government condemns Mehmood's death. He said India should cast light on what he said were "mysterious" circumstances.

Pakistan and India share a history of bitter relations and frequently arrest each other's citizens over spying allegations.
