Part 2

Assalamu alaikum. Alhamdu lillah, The Soul of your child is like an uncut precious jewel entrusted into your care by Allah. To you is given the awesome responsibility of shaping that precious jewel into a beautiful form, pleasing to the eye of Allah. It is your sacred duty to ensure your child grows up to be a good and right human being (Muslim). The oneness (tawhid) of Allah is also expressed in the unity of Islamic life. Raising your children to be good and right human beings is part of the necessary Islamization of world society. The simple fact is that it is very difficult, perhaps impossible, to raise your children to be truly good and right human beings in the world as it is at present.

We ask Allah to forgive our shortcomings and accept our efforts. Please provide us with suggestions and/or
comments for further improvement. We acknowledge the help of many brothers and sisters in the preparation of
this article. May Allah reward them all, aameen.
Please remember us and our parents in your prayers.

1. Make dua, and beg Allah Taala to help you to recite His book the way it was revealed.
2. Use the same mushaf for class and for practicing at home.
3. Mark all letters and words that the teacher corrects you on. If necessary, write exactly what
the correction was in the margin. (Example: If the teacher corrected you on the letter غfor
not being heavy enough, circle the ,غand write “needs to be heavier” in the margin.)
4. Use a correction pencil of another color, such as red or blue.
5. Review the pages that you have already recited to the teacher, focusing on the mistakes that
you marked.
6. Record your recitation and listen to it again focusing on mistakes that were pointed out by
the teacher.
7. Practice daily and remember to apply Tajweed rules whenever you recite the Quran, not just when preparing for class. (Daily prayers are an exception, as one should focus on one’s prayer and not on Tajweed.)
8. Only listen to reciters that are suggested by the teacher, specifically, Sheikh Al-Husary,
Sheikh Abdul Basit Abdus Samad, and Sheikh Al-Minshawi.
9. Do not regularly listen to recordings of other Qiraat (ex. Warsh ‘an Naf’i, Khalaf ‘an Hamza, etc.) until you have completed your ijaza in the riwayah of Hafs ‘an ‘Asim.
10- Join one of Islamic studies online. Such as Firdaws Academy, to learn Quran with Tajweed online, from the comfort of your home.

How to memorize the Quran easily?
“And We have indeed made the Qur’an easy to
understand and remember, but is there any that will
[al-Qamar: 17] memorize-quran-easily
Indeed, reciting the Qur’aan and memorising it has benefits that
cannot be counted, as for the causes and reasons that aid one in
memorising Qur’an, then there are many but I shall briefly
mention the most importance ones here:
1- Du’aa
Du’aa is from the greatest causes that will aid you in memorisation
because as the beloved, the chosen one (sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam) has
said, “Du’aa is worship.” And ordered us to have (certainty) that the
du’aa will be answered. He said, “Call unto Allaah in certainty and know
that Allaah does not answer the heedless and inattentive heart.” So,
increase in du’aa – that Allaah `azza wa jall makes you from the people
of Qur’aan, because as it is said, ‘whoever persists knocking at the door,
it’s bound to open for him.
2- Cleansing of the soul from bad akhlaaq
Learning the Qur’aan is worship of the heart, prayer in secret and
drawing closer to Allaah azza wa jall, and just like the fact that the prayer
is not valid except with outward tahaarah (purity) of the body, clothes and
place of prayer… the inner acts of worship – of the heart – are not valid
except with the purification of the heart from hypocrisy, deception, filth,
malice and envy, enmity and hatred – and those are the impurities of the
heart, soul and inner being. The Noble Qur’aan is like a crop/plantation, it
does not grow except in good, fertile soil. As for land that is salty or
deprived, then no produce will come forth and if some things do come
out, then they will not grow and if they do grow, they will not produce
fruit and even if they do produce fruit, it will not be of good quality. So
the Qur’aan will not grow or produce fruit except in a good, pure andrighteous heart. Due to this, it is incumbant upon the student of
Qur’aan that he should be clean and pure from these bad characteristics
and adorn himself with good, honourable and generous characteristics
like truthfulness, honesty, sincerity, and in a nutshell, all that faith
3- Dedicating a specific time for Hifdh
From the things that will aid you in the memorisation of Qur’aan is that
you dedicate a specific time towards hifdh and you inform your
brothers/sisters that you will be busy during this time so that no-one can
preoccupy you from your hifdh.
4- Have a companion to assist you in continuing the hifdh
It is upon you to choose a righteous companion to help you in
memorising the Qur’aan and create an honourable competition in hifdh
between you and him until your goals reach a high rank and you start to
feel that there is someone competing and preceding you in this good act.
5- Reading the Tafseer of the verses you wish to memorise
From the things which assist you in hifdh is that you read the tafseer
(exegesis) of the verses that you want to memorise because understanding
its meaning will give concrete to it in the mind.
6- Gradual progression in hifdh
You must have gradual progression in hifdh al-Qur’aan, and not to hasten
in memorization until you are able to do so – so do not burden your soul
with more than it can take. Rather you must choose a portion which you
are able to memorise every day and do not go over that limit.
7- Adhere to a proficient Shaykh with whom you memorise
This is an extremely important matter, so that you can memorise Qur’aan
without mistakes. Were you to memorise the Qur’an on your own then
perhaps you might err in the recitation of some verses and were you tomemorise it like that (with those mistakes), then it’s difficult to correct
8- Adhering to one mushaf (copy of the Qur’aan)
From the things that will aid you in hifdh is sticking to one specific copy
of the Qur’an that you read and memorise from until you remember the
position of the verses and chapters.
9- Pray with what you have memorised
It is upon you to strive with your utmost to pray the sunan and nawafil
(superogatory) prayers with what you’ve memorised on that day and what
a delight it would be were you to also pray the mandatory prayers with it,
so that you can give ground to your hifdh.
10- Qiyam al-Lail (the Night Prayer)
The night prayer, particularly in the last third of the night, is at a blessed
time wherein Allah `azza wa jall, descends to the lower heaven in a
manner befitting His Majesty and He calls to His slaves – as is reported in
the Sahihayn – ‘Who will call upon Me so I can answer him?
Who will ask Me so I can give him? Who will seek My forgiveness so I
can forgive him?’ So ask your Lord, `azza wa jall, to forgive your sins
and to honour you with memorisation of His Book.

o consists of such examples which are very crucial for one to remember in order to seek constant guidance. So from Quran, we can get any kind of guidance for our daily life problems and all kind of matters.

o Chance of Communication with Allah Almighty: Quran recitation can be made attractive and in doing so it can initiate a sort of conversation with Allah Almighty. The example of which can be seen in the form of the way Prophet (SAW) read Quran: “And when He (Prophet) recited the verses which referred to the Glory of Allah, He glorified Him, the Great, and when He recited the verses that mention supplication, He supplicated, and when He recited the Verses that mention seeking Refuge of the Rabb He sought (His) refuge”(Muslim).

o You will get the position in Paradise on the basis of Quran memorization in this life: If you want to get higher rank in Paradise then memorize and recite Quran effectively. The Holy Prophet (SAW) stated related to it as: “It will be said to the companion of the Qur’an: Read and elevate (through the levels of the Paradise) and beautify your voice as you used to do when you were in the dunyaa! For verily, your position in the Paradise will be at the last verse you recite!”(Abu Dawood)

o Quran will lead to Paradise: Quran recitation will lead all of them who recited it regularly to paradise. Our beloved Prophet (SAW) stated that: “The Quran is an intercessor, something given permission to intercede, and it is rightfully believed in. Whoever puts it in front of him, it will lead him to Paradise; whoever puts it behind him, it will steer him to the Hellfire.”
